Types of Glass Beads

Along with variety of ranges of colors, shapes and sizes, there also various types of Glass Beads. Here, I have discussed some of the types. 

LEAD CRYSTAL GLASS BEADS
Lead crystal glass beads sparkle more than any other glass beads as they have high lead content and they are machine polished and cut. Due to the high lead content it also is intrinsically delicate. The "lead" oxide in the lead crystal glass beads are perfectly incorporated into the molecular structure. This enables the use of lead crystal without any health risks. 

LAMPWORK BEADS
Lampwork beads are made over fire. Among all glass bead making technique, lampwork beads making are more labor intensive. The beads are named "lampwork" as they are made by using an oil lamp. Lampwork beads can be molded into any shape, size and color due to its flexibility of its medium. 

PRESSED OR MOLDED BEADS
Pressed or molded glass beads are from Czech Republic. These beads comes in variety of shapes, sizes and colors. These beads are made by heating them to be molten and are rolled in hot sand to remove flashing and to soften the seam lines.
